The center’s vision is to support sustainable economic growth through capacity building in ICT within Rwanda and the region. This will be done by building an indigenous technical human resource base that will assist in the effective application of ICT throughout the economy, increase employment opportunities and enable efficient delivery of services.

This center is designed to be a cornerstone in Rwanda’s strategic plan for developing the ICT sector in the country, and will also spur ICT development in the rest of the region.

Objectives of the Regional ICT Training and Research Center

• To provide skills and knowledge enabling graduates to continue with further technical education or join the IT industry.
• To impart professional computer knowledge to senior government officials, top and middle ranking executives enabling them to work confidently and correctly with computers.
• To train people from local government on the effective usage of ICT.
• To equip students with relevant skills needed for managing IT equipment, service, manufacturing industries, private sector and educational institutions as well as to manage projects using computers.
• To equip students with analytical tools to solve problems utilizing scientific knowledge and appropriate technology.
